How important is it to use more than one subnet for NFS storage traffic? I currently have only one IP address on the NFS array assigned and one vmkernel port for NFS within ESXi. I have reduntant paths to storage, but my traffic basically goes over one path to the one IP for a given NFS session. What are the benefits of moving to 2 IPs for NFS on the array, each on different subnets, and having two NFS vmkernel ports on ESXi, one on each subnet? How compelling is the argument to do this?
