I manage a hosting environment today with over 200 hosts and 20 plus filers using nfs for 90 percent of the storage connectivity. We run
a /24 network and have recently run out of ips to assign to any new hosts for the vm kernel port for nfs storage.
The network team has allocated a new /23 network to transition too. My plan was me creating new clusters and then setting the new config or host profile up with the new storage ip range. We are also adding new ips on the new network for all filers and vfilers so I will be a le to connect from the new clusters. Theres a snag...
I cannot add the same datastores that exist already also on the new network/ cluster because it sees them as duplicates.
Any idea how I could make this a smooth transition?
Anyone out thefe running a large environme like this whats you storage connections and overall design look like, smaller ip ranges etc?
Im stuck....
