Cormac Hogan notes that even if your goal is only to equally balance I/O workloads with identical share values, SIOC is still a good idea. Are there any caviats to turning on SIOC when all VMs just need to be equally balanced? (Enviornment is 5.1 Enterprise Plus)

Depends on your infrastructure, but in some cases for instance when SRM is used then SIOC needs to be disabled before a fail-over otherwise it can be difficult to unmount LUNs etc.
