I want to virtualize our fileservers which are now fysical and running on Windows Server.
These servers are connected through a fiberchannel network to a SAN and have a fiber channel LUN assigned.
In the new situation they still will be connected this way, although what is the best way to offer these fileservers about 10 TB of storage each ?
Should I just create a VMDK of 10 TB and assign it to the virtual Fileserver ?
Can I expect performance issues this way ? is there any other way I can assign 10 TB to a VM ? like an RDM ? will this be a better way ?
Has anyone got this configuration running in a company ?
The Fileserver's volume has got millions of files on it.
What is the best practise for this configuration ?
