We currently have Dell Powervault md1200 attached to a Dell R710 with H800 card, this is accessible by one of our hosts (ESXi1), I've been speaking to a colleague and he has advised that this storage array only supports one connection to one host, one of our hosts is currently hitting high usage levels and I want to move a couple of VMS around to balance our load out because of the above 2 of our datastores02 aren't accessible with our other host (ESXi2) (We are on the essentials package so no DRS!),. Would any of you recommend setting up an iSCSI target on one of our local machines or a VM? I've read that with iSCSI software initiators you lose abit on performance but wanted to check if this would be a valid avenue to go down. We are only a small company and with this setup it would give us some shared storage between the two hosts that I can move VMs onto to balance the load.
