Hi All,
Most of our datastores are mapped through NFS on which we leverage the NFS VAAI plugin which works fine.
I know wanted to test VAAI copy offloading with netapp ISCSI LUN's.
What I have done so far:
* created 4 thin provisioned luns on the netapp within a flexvol thinprovisioned volume (deduplication enabled).
* mapped them to 2 of my esx hosts (iscsi traffic is being routed between filer and esxi hosts).
* verified that the datamover and VMFS3 parameters regarding hardware acceleration were set correctly to the value of 1.
* verified that Hardware Acceleration is enabled and the attached lun's support it (verified it through esxcli storage core device list and GUI)
* verified that the lun's are claimed by the VAAI filter.
* The test vm's do not contain any snapshots and are also thin provisioned
Software Versions:
vSphere: 5.1
NetApp Release 8.1.2P1 7-Mode
Filer model: FAS6240
When respecting the current limitations regarding VAAI copy offloading looking to the esxtop VAAI statistics I only see CLONE_F values going up which offcourse is a not good saying its using the software datamover.
Other values like CLONE_WR and CLONE_RD stay 0.
Can anyone provide me additional steps in troubleshooting this issue as i seems like everything should be okay!
Thanks in advance.
