I have a cluster consisting of :
3 Hosts running ESXi 5.0.0
1 Dell Equallogic PS6100x
1 vCenter Server running vSphere 5.0.0
The question i have is sort of a "best practice" or a "what should i do"
I have a 2 TB datastore carved out and a windows file server running on it. My disks are thick provisioned and this specific machine has 3 disks added to it, all are seperate .VMDK files 1 of the disks is housing the operating system, ~ 50GB. 1 of the disks is file shares, ~1.2 TB. The 3rd disk is again a set of shares, ~800GB. Currently, i have provisioned all the space on the datastore on the the file shares and we are running out of disk space.
So i'm asking how to best handle the situation.
Can/Should i just increase the size of the datastore on the EQ and in vSphere and continue to grow the size of the .VMDK's.
Can/Should I move one of the .VMDK's onto a seperate datastore.
Should i just create a new .VMDK on its own datastore, add that disk to the OS, and move the files to it, then delete the old disk?
