Hello,
So some pros of shared SAS include the ease of setup and management. Shared SAS may also be cheaper if you don't already have GbE available. The cons are more important if you ask me, though. Distance is number one. If servers and storage are in the same or adjacent racks, you're doing good. But if you're looking at tens of meters, you're better off looking at something else. It also doesn't scale well. If you add hosts in the future, it may be tricky to manage with shared SAS.
If you have enough GbE, iSCSI would be my choice. It's also simple for setup and management for experienced networkers. It's good to use VLANs or dedicated switches for storage traffic to improve security. iSCSI will scale much better, too, when you start to add hosts.
Cheers,
Mike
