What is the benefit of allocating multiple VMs in one datastore?

Hi,

Quite a stupid and basic question but I cannot answer it . What is the benefit of having multiple VMs in one VMFS datastore instead of having each VM in one different VMFS datastore? (eg. 3 VMs in 1 datastore or 3 datastores and each VM in one of them). I can only think about ease of management for the storage administrator since it creates only one big LUN.
