This doesn't necessarily mean that both controllers are active for the same LUN. For most arrays this means that both controllers can own LUNs, but each LUN is owned by only one of the controllers.
Assuming you have two initiator HBAs and two targets, you will most likely see two paths with a status of "Active (I/O) for the owning controller and two paths with the staus "Active" for the other controller in the ESXi host's path management for the LUN.
