I'm new to FC (we're an iSCSI shop), but I'm trying to learn for my DCD. I've been reading on various blog posts about zoning, which I believe over all makes sense. I came across this blog article and am slightly confused by the diagram:
http://vmfocus.com/2012/05/31/fabric-zoning-best-practices/
If you look at the graphic it makes sense, but above that look at the text:
http://vmfocus.files.wordpress.com/2012/05/capture.png
E1 to S1 via Fabric Switch 1
E1 to S3 via Fabric Switch 2
E2 to S2 via Fabric Switch 1
E2 to S4 via Fabric Switch 2
E3 to S1 via Fabric Switch 1
E3 to S3 via Fabric Switch 2
E4 to S2 via Fabric Switch 1
E4 to S4 via Fabric Switch 2
How can the same physical port on the HBA connect to switch 2? Is the text in the article incorrect? I don't presume to know more than any one about FC zoning but I don't see how E1 can be plugged into more than one switch.
Totally confused....
