Hi All,
I have a 490GB datastore that I have attached as a Thin Provisioned disk to a VM running Windows Storage Server 2012.
On the drive within the OS, I have enabled data deduplication. Of the 490GB, I have 223GB free space - my deduplication rate/saving is being reported as 42% & 197GB respectively.
However, within vSphere, I am being informed that I am running low on disk within the datastore - it's almost as if the free space available from the deduplication is not being recognised.
Is there any way for me to reclaim the space from the datastore?
Regards,
Bob
Update: I have read KB 2014849 about "Using vmkftools to reclaim VMFS deleted blocks on thin-provisioned LUNs", but have ascertained that my LUN does not appear to support SCSI UNMAP.
