Greetings,
I have a number of LUNs configured for a particular client. Three LUNs with different sizes host 50 VMs. These VMs can be anything from Web, file to SQL servers. Between those three LUNs, there is around 9.55 TB of free space that I need to recapture.
The plan for the moment is to empty out the smaller LUN into the next biggest LUN. Delete that LUN and recreate it with the proper size and then move VMs back. Since there is enough disk space between three, I'm sure its technically possible.
The question I have for the group is:
- How much overhead is necessary for a VM in order to size the LUN?
- Is there a VM to LUN ratio out there to figure out how many VMs I should store in a single LUN?
- The idea of moving around VMs to free up disk space a valid idea?
Thank You
