Hi,
This is the first time I am going to post on these forums. So here is my
issue, any help would be appreciated.
I am having VMDKs unmounts, after performing backup jobs.
When I come in to work I see that a VM is down, when I try to boot it up I
get the error that there is no OS.I then find the VM in the web client
->> edit settings ->> add new hardware ->>select disk
drive-->> Then jump from data store to data store until I finding a
directory that matches my VM's name. I Then open up the directory and add back
the VMDKs. After that is all done for the most part the VM will boot up, when
the VM doesn’t boot up I get an error that the VMDK is locked. I then go to my
media agent server and look through it’s mounted disk drives, and will find the
disk drive that has my locked VM's snap shot mounted. I then remove said snap
shot drive, from the media agent. The original VM's VMDK is unlocked and I am
able to boot up my machine.
The systems I am running are as follow:
Vcenter 5.5
ESXI 5.5
Simpana 10
SAN is EVA P6550
Encl c7000
Servers are a Mix of Gen 6 and Gen 8 ProLiant HP Blades
I am not sure if this is a common issue, but thank you for your time.
