Re: 2 servers that frequently communicate with each other - storage question

Hello All!  Just wondering what the opinion is here, we have 2 SQL servers that communicate frequently with each other that at times have problems.

They are on the same SAN but are on different LUNs.  Is it possible that putting these 2 on the same LUN would help this communication?

Assuming you're referring to network communication between the 2 VMs, whether they reside on the same or a different storage LUN is in essence absolutely, utterly irrelevant.

In the worst case as a side effect, it could only worsen the communication problem when both hammer the same physical disks and cause more latency to each other.

What you could do to help network communication is running them on the same host (DRS affinity rules) AND in the same VLAN/port group. This way they can achieve very high throughput rates and you never have to traverse the scary world of the physical network.

I suggest you look into your network problems more closely.
