Sharing a vmdk

Hello,

I'm relatively new to vmware, so I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction with regards to sharing a virtual disk between 2 x Windows 2008R2 servers. Apologies if the information I give isn't as clear and precise as it needs to be - I'll certainly respond with further information if required.

We host call recording software on these Windows servers and the logs/data currently reside on the servers' own vmdks. We would like to create a shared virtual disk that can be accessed for read and write operations by both servers for resiliency purposes. Obviously it would be simple to use a NAS, but the powers that be are looking for an alternative solution. The servers reside on seperate hosts within a cluster with shared SAN storage and we run vcenter and ESXi versions 5.5. It's also worth noting that we don't use the web client for configuration.

I've come across various links describing the process for sharing disks for write operations, but not for both read and write.

Hopefully this is possible and if someone could offer some advice it would be very much appreciated.

Thanks and kind regards,

Matt
