What does "Drive Type" (SSD vs Non-SSD) really do?

I have a FreeNAS iSCSI array which identifies itself as SSD storage, even though it isn't (it's 6x7200rpm drives used for testing).  I'm wondering what impact, if any, that could have on my environment.

Does the Drive Type tag (SSD vs Non-SSD) enable or allow anything differently?

Is the tag just there to help the operator remember which array is SSD?

Are there any implications with Storage DRS or other policy based capabilities?
