We have a cluster of 3 ESXi 5.1 hosts and we recently did a test where ESXi hosts were not able to reach SAN for a while. During this test we also rebooted the servers and since the SAN did not come up before the servers booted, ESXi hosts did not mount the ISCSI Storage after the boot on its own. We had to manually go in a perfrom a rescan of the storage adapters to mount he datastores. We want the ESXi hosts to keep trying to access SAN unitl it is available once they are up after a reboot. So that in case of a power failure or if something goes wrong with SAN, we don't have to do a manual rescan of the storage adapters. Is there a way or a script which can be confgured on the ESXi 5.1 hosts to make it try to scan the SAN until it is available. Once the datastores mount, then the re-scan loop can stop trying.
Does anyone know how this can be done? or can it be done?
I am very new to vSphere CLI, so detailed information/help would be appreciated.
