Hello Everybody.
So I need to P2V our FileServer (Win2008R2) with a direct attached storage of about 15 TB over a 1Gb network. I am having some trouble on how to set this up.
Currently I am thinking of P2V the entire thing, letting it run for 1 week until finished and then using a copying program to copy the changed files only. That should bring the last step down to a few hours which is a reasonable downtime for us.
However, i can't help but think that there must be a vSphere way of doing this.
I am using vCenter Enterprise with 4 vSphere 5.5 hosts and 2 iSCSI MD3600.
I was thinking of RDM and then storage vMotion - but that only allows me to connect to a LUN, which I don't have.
is there any way to create a vmdk/drive to connect to the data in a NFS or a windows share?
What am I missing here, or is my solution mentioned on top the only way?
