ESXi 5.1 vmdk i slarger than the maximum size

Hi everybody. I have esxi5.1 with luns formatted as vmfs5. I created VM with 2 tb hard disk, now i cannot create snapshot via veeam, it tells that file vmdk is larger than the maximum size supported by datastore. My question :
If i upgrade esxi hosts to 5.5 it will give me opportunity to take snapshot or backup with veeam.
