“Hi.
I’m Jason Jang at SK hynix memory solutions inc.
We want our storage array can supports VAAI.
We currently uses our PCIe SSD and 40Gbps Nic card.
And, we uses SCST target + ESXI 5.5u2 Initiator.
When I checked whether VAAI supported or not using esxcli command
(esxcli storage core device vaai status get),
I could get this message.
- eui.3237636464633731
VAAI Plugin Name:
ATS Status: supported
Clone Status: unsupported
Zero Status: supported
Delete Status: unsupported
But, I tested several times, But I think none of them are supported in my machine.
(I tested using our desktop computer, And I couldn’t see any time improvement especially block zeroing.)
My questions are,
1. I assume that this “esxcli storage core device vaai status get” command gets information from discovery session, right?
Can you tell me how that command works? What metadata is used to confirm whether VAAI is supported or not ?
2. I assume that you uses open-iscsi as your Esxi-5.5’s iscsi initiator. Can you confirm that?
(I found that information inhttps://my.vmware.com/web/vmware/details?productId=351&downloadGroup=ESXI550_OSS )
3. Can you tell me how to start our storage array can supports VAAI ?
Regards,
Jason Jang.”
