Hi, I setup a vSphere 5.1 deployment and used Equallogic MEM for multipathing. On first sight everything looks ok, I have one distributed switch for ISCSI bound to two physical nics with LACP that contains:
- 1 portgroup ISCSIVLAN linked to the two physical nics with ip hash routing
- 1 portgroup ISCSI0 linked to vmk1, which has an IP address in the ISCSI subnet and is linked to the first physical NIC
- 1 portgroup ISCSI1 linked to vmk2, which has an IP address in the ISCSI subnet and is linked to the second physical NIC
When I look on managed paths I see 6 for each datastore, which is correct since I have an Equallogic group with 3 members. I also see these connections in the Equallogic group manager. Still two things bother me:
- When I look into storage view, next to each VM Multipathing status is set to Partial/No Redundancy. Why is this??
- We use ISCSI connections on our Windows VMs to, also with Equallogic multipathing. Do I set both nics in the VMs to the ISCSIVLAN portgroup or is better to set one nic to the ISCSI0 portgroup, the other to ISCSI1 portgroup and just delete the ISCSIVLAN portgroup then?
Any ideas would be welcome!
