thanks for your reply on my question. It is not because we want to use the machine for clustering. it is also for as fileserver / SQL server. The reason why i have ask it is because of the snapdrive software. You need to maintane it, upgrade it etc etc if you are going to upgrade your ONTAP in Netapp. If it was done in Vmware than i only have one place to upgrade etc instead of all those VM's.
Our Admin team for Vmware is now discussing it, to use SNapdrive or to create a datastore to the netapp with iscsi and than simple add Hardware disk's to the VM or create RDM on the VM. some of use prefer Snapdrive and some Datastore and some RDM. for a fileserver what is better to use?
