Hi vmroyale,

thanks  for your reply on my question. the decision was made by a former administrator who left the company, the choice was never really optional. now admins have this discussions because i didn't want to upgrade the snapdrive all the time if we upgrade the ONTAP of netapp. What i am trying to meet is to provide fileservers and SQL servers (non cluster) to have:

fileserver:

OS  - NFS with SAS disks

data - ISCSI with SATA disks other aggr.

SQL servers:

OS  - NFS with SAS disks

database - ISCSI with sas disk other aggr.

log ISCSI with sas disk other aggr.

Our  Admin team for Vmware is now discussing it, to use SNapdrive or to  create a datastore to the netapp with iscsi and than simple add Hardware  disk's to the VM or create RDM on the VM. some of use prefer Snapdrive  and some Datastore and some RDM. for a fileserver / SQL server what is better to use?
