Using VMWare standard license with EqualLogic

I'm getting mixed answers on weather it is possible to use Dell Multipathing Extension (MEM) with ESX standard license.

I'm also confused about terms like PSP, PSA, NMP, and Storage API.  I'm not sure which one of these the Dell MEM is  We are using MEM in our current vSphere Enterprise environment and it shows up in vSphere Client - Manage Paths dialog box as "DELLl_PSP_EQL_ROUTED".

I am not interested in using Dell Virtual Storage Manager (formerly HIT/VE).  I just want to use the Dell Multipathing Extension Module (MEM 1.1.2) with vSphere 5.1.  I read somewhere that Virtual Storage Manager uses Storage APIs and requires Enterprise license, and MEM does not use Storage API and therefore can be used with any VMWare licensing.  I called Dell Support and they couldn't tell me if MEM was using Storage API or not.

Is anyone using MEM with the standard license?

I've also read VMWare has native options for multipathing.  I believe it is Round Robin?  How has your experience been with the built in options?

Thanks,

Brian
