Re: VMWare ESXi and Intel DC3700 Poor Performance Even With Intel's Driver

Hm. Strange.I'm running P3700 as pernixdata fvp cache (5.5.u2), and it works like a charm. I've seen that using vmware paravirtual controller inside the VM might make a differende, but not that huge...

Re: VMWare ESXi and Intel DC3700 Poor Performance Even With Intel's Driver

I'm using CrystalDiskMark 1GiB file size. I'm talking about sequential read. I don't think it has anything to do with the benchmark because I'm running the exact same thing with a straight Windows...

Re: VMWare ESXi and Intel DC3700 Poor Performance Even With Intel's Driver

It depends on whether the virtual disks are thin or thick provisioned. With thin provisioned virtual disks you will most likely not be able to delete the snapshots, because the base disks may grow....

Re: Using Vmware 4.0 and having storage issues

The reason for this is most likely that there's not enough disk space left on the datastore to create the swap (.vswp) file which - once the VM is powered on - is created with the size of the VM's...

Re: Network access to datastore

Hello all, Did some tests with PowerCLI, WinSCP, PSCP and copies are very slow. For a 200 GB VM I get about 10 hours. (5~6MB/s) Security is not an issue since the copy is inside the LAN... I read about...

Re: Moving VM Datastor to new Datastor which consists of Exchange data

What vSphere licences do you have? If it's Standard or higher, you can simply use Storage vMotion, which is completely non-disruptive.

Re: Moving VM Datastor to new Datastor which consists of Exchange data

Re: Physical RDM's to Virtual RDMs Supported in vSphere 6.0

I don't see any reason to why this will not work in vSphere 6, since the procedure is just remove the physical RDM disks and add them again as virtual RDM disks... I think the KB is just out of date.

I would also prefer to get rid of any setups that use spanned volumes like this. I would power of the VM, add a new 700gb or larger vmdk and thenboot into a Windows-based LiveCD.and clone spanned disk...
