I've created a video on iSCSI port binding here: http://wahlnetwork.com/2012/12/20/configuring-proper-vsphere-iscsi-multipathing-via-binding-vmkernel-ports-video/ And the documentation is here:...

In case anyone has the same setup and is interested, the conclusions we came to were: Disabling Delayed Ack:We're leaving it enabled. Disabling it didn't seem to make a significant change to...

My personal experience is that it is better to keep the LUN ID consistent. Then if you need to re install ESXi you know without thinking which LUN it should be using because the ID is available in the...

thanks for the response. We are looking to use a storage group per ESX Host and we will pre-provision as much of the storage and hosts as possbile to ensure the LUNs are added to all storage groups at...

We're running 6 esxi 5.1 hosts that use vmfs5 storage provided via iscsi from a dual-controller Dell md3020i. Our load is about 900 IOPs, but can spike to 1800 IOPs. During times of high load, our...

Not sure what else to do. Here, you can see a thin provisioned disk: Which is confirmed by the client as well Now I inflate the vmdk (makes no difference, PowerCLI or the Datastore Browser) Once done,...

The same effect as re-registering a VM can be achieved with a Reload-VM operation like this: On the ESXi shell via SSH or DCUI:Get the VM id with: # vim-cmd vmsvc/getallvms | grep -i [VM-Name] Execute...

Awesome, I was aware of the vim command but couldn't find the equivalent PowerCLI one .. That has done it - thanks !

You should look into the caveats around replication. Our on site EMC guru pushed very hard for consistent Lun ids, there must be very good reasons why. Sent from my iPhone

why do I need to partition the drive and why do I only see the last partion?good questions - I noticed the same here.I noticed that ESXi only sees iSCSI targets that are partitioned. Sorry I have no...

I am trying that approach next creating two RAID 6 Groups with 8 drives each. In the end I will end up with the same space but I will be losing performance.

You can certainly attach USB drives to the VM via the ESXi host. I do this for a few VM's every week to send some data off-site. It's a small amount of data so it works fine for my purposes. Your...

I can't tell you for sure, but I'd say yes (assuming the VMFS uses a 1MB block size), that's how I understand the use of blocks vs. sub-blocks. Cormac Hogan explains the use of sub-blocks at Something...

No the starting and ending of the vmfs5 is gpt partition table in forward and reverse order. The vmdk flat will be contiguous and can start from anywhere on the vmfs.
