Is that safe though? I imagine it being like pulling the rug out from under it by doing that. One second it has access to the datastores on the LUNs, and the next it doesn't if all I do is unpresent it and then rescan on the hosts. If that's the way it has to be done then so be it, but I just wanted to be sure because it didn't seem graceful or safe to me. Especially after reading the first step of the procedure being to make sure no VMs are registered on the datastore.
