Hi,
I have received a new PowerEdge R520 server with 2 SSD cards where ESXi is preinstalled.
I have configured the host and created one big 7TB Datastore from the local HDD (RAID6). For now this host will be a standalone server and not a member of any HA cluster.
Now i would like to know if i need to do any configuration for swap location.
By default,VMs swap files will be located on the VM Datastore, that's fine with me...
My colleague however is concerned that any swapping would occur on the SSD cards where ESXi is installed.I have checked but could not find any host related swap file.
I have checked a couple of resources and i found one so implemented a change and specified the ScratchConfig.ConfiguredScrathLocation to point to the HDD Datastore i had created.
I can now see a couple of folders
If i compare to other hosts i have running i do not see a file they all have: uwswap (UserWorld Swap), i cannot find much info about this file, except that it is needed for HA.As i said we do not plan to use it now, but we might decide to later on.
Can someone please help me clarify this situation and address my colleague concerns.
Thanks
