Thanks to any responses beforehand.
We have a customer for whom we are purchasing a Dell R820 with 2 Fusion io2 1.2 TB cards. In the absence of hardware RAID support, what is everyone's' thoughts on the best way to have redundant storage while maintaining as many of the VMWare benefits as possible? This box is going to be used as a high performance platform for a SQL server.
On a side note, this configuration is being used because the customer has a software product for maintaining their equipment database that seems to run dog slow unless it is ran from local SSDs. The EMC VNX has the required iops, but the program just will not play nice. The customer had this problem before on a physical box, and they cured it by placing the database on SSDs. Now that we have moved it to the cloud the slowness has come back, so the Dell 820 is being purchased specifically for this problem. So that's the story behind this.
