The ESXi basically gets the hardware status from the CIM broker and update it on the UI. These are all the status the HW has exposed to the ESXi. It will just populate all available fields from the HW.
The disk bays or disk are actual number of disks. Are you seeing 10 Disk bays? Or may be there are two bays with 5 drives in each. can't really tell until we see the whole thing.
