Running SAN VMs on a different ESX box

Hello

I have two ESX servers. One is 3.5 Update 5, the other is 5.0 Update 2.  The 3.5 box is the only one in production.  I have a VM on a NetApp SAN that is in production and running on the 3.5 box.  I do not have vCenter.

My goal is to transfer all the VMs from the 3.5 box to the 5.0 box, one at a time.

After installing the 5.0 box, I added an iSCSI connector and put in the IP address of my SAN.  Immediately afterwards I started receiving these repeating errors in /var/log/syslog.log

2012-12-27T17:46:53Z iscsid: Kernel reported iSCSI connection 1:0 error (1011) state (3)
2012-12-27T17:46:57Z iscsid: connection 1:0 (iqn.1992-08.com.netapp:sn.135044896 if=default addr=10.0.0.3:3260 (TPGT:2000 ISID:0x1)  (T0 C0)) has recovered (2 attempts)

What am I doing wrong?  Can a LUN be hooked up to two ESX boxes at the same time? I would think I could just hook the LUN up to both ESX boxes, shut down the VM on the 3.5 box, and then add it to the inventory and fire it up on the 5.0 box.

What am I missing?

Thanks,

- Mike
