Unable to statically add an iscsi volume

I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue as well.

vSphere Version:     5.1

I am trying to add a static connection to my iSCSI volume on my NAS unit using the vSphere GUI and the command line. Both result in a failure. However, I am able to connect using dynamic discovery.

When I attempt to add a static iSCSI connection from the GUI, I get the following error message:

Call "HostStorageSystem.AddInternetScsiStaticTargets" for object "storageSystem" on ESXi "< vsphere server >" failed.
Operation failed, diagnostics report: iScsiLibException: status(c0000000): Invalid parameter; Message= IMA_AddStaticDiscoveryTarget
When I try adding it from the command line I get this error:
     Failed to add static target.

I thought maybe this was a firewall issue but I ruled that out based on the fact that I don't have any problems when I attempt to add the target using dynamic discovery.

Also, I if I add the target using dynamic discovery and then later remove the NAS ip address from the dynamic discovery configuration, if I reboot vSphere, the iSCSI datastore is lost.

If I leave it dynamic and reboot, the datastore is not lost.
