Create just a single volume with your 4 disks in RAID 5 that should provide you ~3TB of usable capacity and format that volume using VMFS 6.

storage vmotion generally uses the management network for data transfer. So it does not require vmotion port group.

Using a lck file as example is not a lucky choice as you will never actively use a lck-file.Does the problem you have affect any vmdk file or a vmx-file ?
