I have a home lab setup with a poweredge server and one SSD, with esxi and vsphere 5.5. I have vcenter installed on a VM and I'm working through Mastering vsphere 5.5, I created a datastore on the SSD...

Re: Cannot see local device when trying to create a new Datastore

VMware only supports a single datastore on a disk/LUN, so this might be the reason that the SSD doen't show up as an available device. André

Re: .vmx file didn't move after svmotion

Got an idea. Since the VM is a clustered MSCS , I can failover the SQL to the passive node and shut it down and svmotion and then back again. Hope all the other files will come this time

Re: .vmx file didn't move after svmotion

Re: .vmx file didn't move after svmotion

Ruhul, you can perform svmotion without removing the RDM luns and while the VM is online.  This will only move the pRMD pointers.  Just to be on the safe side make sure the node you are working is the...
